Meet Edward Turner

Edward, born and raised in South Dallas, is a committed father and tireless advocate for improving our educational system.

Edward grew up in the heart of South Dallas and he is a graduate of the Great James Madison High School. A first-generation college graduate, Edward earned a BBA in Finance from Texas Southern University and an MBA in International Business from American InterContinental University.

After spending several years in the financial services industry, Edward relocated back to Dallas in 2009 but was dismayed by what he found: a dwindling population that resulted in the closure of four schools by 2011. Those schools that remained open had enormous challenges to overcome.

Believing that education is the key to success, he left his career in finance and went to work as a community organizer to develop and encourage parental involvement in the same area in which he was raised.

A 2017 Leadership ISD Alumnus, Edward has been actively involved in leadership positions in our schools. These include:

- Current Site Based Decision Making Chair (SBDM) at Dunbar Elementary School
- Co-Chair of Our Community Our Schools
- Former SBDM Vice Chair at Madison High
- Former SBDM Chair at Billy E. Dade Middle School

Edward is a dedicated father to 7-year-old Kendall and attends church at Rhoades Terrace Bible Fellowship.
