Ed Turner has worked tirelessly with principals, teachers, community partners, and most importantly, parents and children to strengthen ways we work together to create real solutions for issues that plague DISD.
Strong early childhood education is critical to later workforce/college readiness, and ultimately ending the pipeline to prison. We need to be doing everything we can to ensure all children have a solid foundation for learning. Every child can learn, we just have to give them the opportunity.
Edward places the highest priority on the safety and well-being of our students. He recognizes the growing concern of substances like fentanyl affecting our youth and will work to raise awareness and implement preventive measures. Edward is committed to making our schools safe environments where students can focus on learning without fear. He will also work closely with law enforcement, parents, and community organizations to address the issue of fentanyl and other dangerous substances in our schools. Every child should feel safe at school, and Edward will strive to make this a reality while taking concrete steps to combat the opioid crisis.
We should be at the forefront of ending the pipeline to prison which shuts the doors of opportunity for students. We should create portals for potential by expanding existing programs like early Pre-K, Accelerated Campus Excellence (ACE), Career and Technical Education (CTE), P-Tech, and collegiate academies. Programs like these give students the tools they need to be successful in college and in the workforce.
